The New Science Building built at the University of Toronto Mississauga will transform the sciences by providing state-of-the-art research facilities. The building has 90,000 sq. ft. of lab space and houses the Centre for Medical Chemistry with labs supporting graduate life sciences programs, well as the Forensic Science program.

The new facility is part of an ambitious long-term commitment to cut the university’s carbon footprint to 37% below 1990 levels by 2030. To support this initiative, mottlab supplied and installed over 9000 sq. ft. of painted laboratory casework and fume hoods and nearly 2000 sq ft of stainless steel casework, fume hoods, and countertops. This consisted of more than 120 Optima™ benches (with a variety of electrical and plumbing combinations), over 100 NovaGuard™ high performance fume hoods, and hundreds of wall, tall, floor and specialty cabinets. mottLAB also supplied four custom designed countertop ventilated glass enclosures which span twelve feet per unit.
